MT5 interface: What alternatives are there – and how good are they?

If you're not happy with the standard interface of MetaTrader 5, you have several options. Not every one is a real improvement. Here are four common ways with pros and cons.

1. The MetaTrader Web Terminal

Runs in the browser, requires no installation, and looks a bit fresher. However, it lacks Expert Advisors, custom indicators, and many chart functions. Good for a quick look on the go, but too thin for daily trading.

2. Your Broker's App

Many brokers offer their own platforms. They often look nice, but they tie you to that one broker, have their own order routes, and usually no connection to your MetaTrader tools. If you switch brokers, you start over.

3. Third-Party Platform with Bridge to MetaTrader

Charting platforms can be connected to MT5 accounts via bridges or plugins. This can work well, but it introduces a second provider, often monthly data fees, and additional sources of errors between the platform, bridge, and terminal.

4. An Interface Over Your Own MetaTrader

The fourth way keeps everything the same – account, broker, terminal, Expert Advisors – and only replaces the operation. instaTrader is such a program: It starts on the same PC as your MetaTrader, reads prices and positions from the terminal, and sends every order back there. There's no server in between, no data fee, and no second login.

What you should pay attention to with each solution

  • Where are the access data? With instaTrader on your PC, encrypted via Windows user protection. For cloud solutions, they are with the provider.
  • What happens if the provider goes down? If the MetaTrader continues to run, your positions and stops remain in the broker's terminal. This is the case with an interface above the MetaTrader.
  • Can I cancel? Monthly cancellation is mandatory; lifetime licenses are a bonus.

Try it out: instaTrader is available for MetaTrader 4 and 5. The setup is free to download, and trading is done with a subscription license starting at €19.90 per month, cancellable at any time. All features, images, and prices.

Note: Trading financial instruments involves significant risks up to total loss. Analyses and signals in instaTrader are automatically generated from market data and are not investment advice.
